Renee Niemi
Chair CEO Peer Advisory Board, Trusted Mentor and Advisor to CEOs, Board Director, Passionate Product Executive A self-professed “gadget junkie, ” Renée has spent most of her career creating high-impact products and businesses that make a difference in consumers’ lives. Renée Niemi joined the board of Scientific Adventure for Girls in September 2019 because of their positive impact on women STEM. In addition to SAfG, Renee is a board member of VIA Health and on the Advisory Board for the Engineering Dean at Santa Clara University. Most recently, Renee was the Chief Business Officer and Board member of Wonder Workshop. Niemi has also held a number of leadership roles in Consumer Electronics including SVP and GM of the Smart Home division at Logitech; GM of Android and Chrome for Work and Education at Google; and Chief Product Officer at Plantronics. Niemi is a passionate advocate for Women in STEM and volunteers her time to help young women who are exploring careers in the engineering field. Renee holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Santa Clara University. |
Alex Baretta
Entrepenuer, Engineer, Investor, Advisor Alex is an electrical engineer by training and a software engineer by trade. He leads the high frequency business at TickUp AB, a Swedish startup hedge fund, where he focuses his efforts on the applications of machine learning and AI in the domain of systematic trading algorithms. Alex’s research interests lie at the intersection of numerical optimization and predictive modeling. Prior to TickUp, he built his experience in financial service technology at multiple VC funded and publicly traded, fintech and insurtech startups, including The Climate Corporation (Google Ventures, acquired by Monsanto), Xambala (MDV), Lumity (Social Capital, DFJ), Knight Capital Group (public company, acquired by Virtu Financial). He is an angel investor in Zeguro (Mosaik) and an advisor at Sendoso (Oak HC/FT). |

Michele Guel
Distinguished Engineer & Data Security and Privacy Strategist at Cisco Michele D. Guel has been an avid speaker, influencer and evangelist in the cybersecurity industry for 31 years. She joined Cisco in March 1996 as the founding member of Cisco’s internal security team. During her 24+ years at Cisco, she has worked in all facets of data, information, network security, IoT operational security excellence and has established many “firsts” at Cisco. In her current role in the Office of the CTO for the Security Business Group, she is focused on data security and privacy strategies for Cisco products and offerings. In 2010, Michele was promoted to Distinguished Engineer (DE), one of 9 female DEs across Cisco today. In 2014 she co-founded Cisco’s Women in Cybersecurity Community which focuses on developing the next generation of women cybersecurity leaders. In 2016 she received the prestigious Anita Borg’s 2016 Women of Vision Technology Leadership Award. Prior to joining Cisco, Michele spent 11 years at NASA Ames Research Center, where she formulated, founded and headed the information security program for the Numerical Aerodynamic Simulation (NAS) Facility. He explores the intersection of design and AI to create everyday solutions for everyday problems. After Postmates acquired his startup in 2017, he founded Postmates X where he has been pondering how to solve one of the biggest dilemmas in food delivery: Why move two-pound burritos with two-ton cars? The solution is Serve, an award-winning, polite and friendly robot that's designed to delight bystanders as it navigates urban obstacles to deliver food and supplies to customers.
