What is AI Spectra?AISpectra is a national student-driven STEAM outreach program that works in partnership with various nonprofit and community organizations. Our goal is to introduce emerging technologies and their applications to middle school girls and non-binary students from underserved communities (6th to 10th grade) through a unique interactive curriculum, structured hands-on workshops, speaker panels, and Kaggle competitions. We hope to support our participants throughout their STEAM journey by exposing them to the interdisciplinary nature of technology and careers at the intersections of the sciences and humanities.

We demonstrate the creativity of computing by leveraging our participants’ specific interests in non-STEM fields, such as art, music, language, environment, and social justice to solve real world problems. Additionally, our students are encouraged to showcase their STEAM projects on our website and blog. We support them throughout their STEAM journey by providing mentorship and college resources. Our objective is to promote ethical, humanistic, and inclusive principles while designing technological solutions for the greater good of society.
What is our Mission?
Girls often get discouraged from pursuing STEM disciplines due to gender bias, stereotypes, unsupportive atmosphere in educational institutions, school clubs etc. Due to these factors, many young women are unaware of the creativity involved in STEM and how easily and effectively it can be applied to the fields of their choice - fashion, art, environment, music, literature, business, and so on.
Our curriculum is designed to introduce students to the real world applications of computer science and Artificial Intelligence. We use hands-on activities to show how simple it is to get started and design simple technological solutions to complex problems. Our program will educate young women on the diverse career possibilities that they can aspire to without compromising on their interests if they acquire tech skills.
